After one of the most rigorous and highly competitive review processes in the history of military firearms, the SIG SAUER M17 was awarded the Modular\u00a0Handgun System (MHS) contract<\/strong> for the U.S. Army. The M17 is a P320-based platform, and was selected for its uniquely innovative modularity, uncompromising performance, and unmatched capability. A compact version M18 (3.9 inch barrel) was also selected for the US Marines and some other groups of the US Armed Forces.<\/strong> The commercial M18 closely follows the specifications of the U.S. Army\u2019s M17.<\/p>\n

The SIG SAUER M18 is a 9mm, striker-fired pistol and comes with one (1) 17-round magazine and two (2) 21-round magazines, featuring a coyote-tan PVD coated stainless steel slide compatible with the ROMEO-17 red dot optic, and black controls just like the pistols currently being shipped to the U.S. Army; it comes equipped with a SIGLITE front night sight and removable Night Sight rear plate. The M18 features a coyote-tan carry-length grip module, available in three sizes, and comes standard with a manual safety.<\/p>\n
